(09/22/06) MINEOLA - One NYPD officer is dead and another arrested Friday after a suspected drunk-driving accident on Sunrise Highway.
Danielle Baymack, an off-duty 22-year-old police officer from Bayside, was allegedly driving drunk after a night of partying. Police say after losing control of the vehicle, Baymack?s car collided into a light pole, killing her passenger and fellow NYPD officer Marlene Rivera, 24. The pair was brought to North Shore University Medical Center, where the driver was treated for cuts to her face. Baymack faces a bedside arraignment Saturday morning, when authorities say she will be charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter and two counts of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
Both women graduated from the police academy in July and worked at the 103rd Precinct in Jamaica.
