Members of the FDNY celebrated the 100th birthday of a retired New York City firefighter and World War II merchant mariner from Brookhaven.
Festivities for Leonard Henderson took place Saturday afternoon at the Moose Lodge in Mount Sinai.
"I feel like a million dollars," Henderson said. "It's the last thing I ever expected. It's wonderful. All these people are honoring me above and beyond. I don’t know if I'm worthy of all of this honor but I'll take it though."
Henderson was presented with a flag that News 12 was told was flown over the World Trade Center last year.
