Northwell Health has announced the opening of a new center to help people who are affected by the stress from the coronavirus pandemic.
Northwell Health opened a Center for Traumatic Stress, Resilience and Recovery. It's located on the LIJ campus in New Hyde Park.
"Just like our veterans receive additional specialized supports to acknowledge their sacrifice, so do our health care workers deserve the same," said Mayer Bellehsen, director of the center.
The center is staffed with clinicians trained in the treatment of PTSD, anxiety, depression and insomnia. The goal is to help health care workers deal with their stress before it overtakes their lives.
Satellite offices for the center will be located in Port Jefferson, Manhattan and Staten Island.
