A North Woodmere woman who is believed to be the oldest Long Islander just celebrated her 110th birthday.
Henrietta Dobin celebrated with her two children, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren at Bristal Assisted Living at North Woodmere.
"I was telling my boss I have this 110th birthday party, he's like, '110, that's insane,' and I was like yeah well, I have good genes," says Sigal Markowitz, Dobin's great-granddaughter.
Dobin grew up during the Great Depression and married her husband in 1930 at the age of 17. She's an artist who loves to paint and worked at the Nassau County Museum of Art until she was 108.
"I've done a lot of things. I have traveled, I have worked in very interesting places. I'm satisfied with what I did, says Dobin."
Although Dobin says there's no secret to living a long and happy life, she does have some advice for younger generations.
"Live your life the way you want to live it," says Dobin. "Be good to yourself, be good to others."
Her great-granddaughter believes staying active and keeping her mind sharp have been key factors for her great-grandmother's long life.
She also celebrated her birthday with her friend who is 107.
