The North Shore Synagogue in Syosset recently held a prayer vigil in support of Israel.
Congregants from 10 different houses of worship were in attendance.
Rabbi Jaimee Shalhevet said this is currently a frightening time for people in the Jewish community, especially for those who are still waiting to hear from their loved ones overseas.
"They don't know their whereabouts; they don't know who has them or if they're alive. And that is immensely scary,” he said.
