Nonprofit hopes for donations after saving veteran’s dog
A nonprofit group that helped save the life of a veteran’s dog is asking the community for help raising money.
The group Almost Home paid for Buddy, a 10-year-old golden retriever, to have a leg amputation after a tumor was discovered.
Buddy then suffered from complications from the surgery and developed an infection.

Costs from the procedure ballooned to $13,000 – nearly emptying the bank account for the nonprofit organization.
John Markowitz, Buddy's owner, says Almost Home saved his dog.
“He's running around on three legs. He's a very happy dog. He's the best thing that has ever happened to me,” Markowitz told News 12.
Donations to the organization can be made through their website.
