NOAA predicts this year will have a range of eight to 13 tropical storms, three to six of which will become hurricanes. One or two may grow to become stronger than a category 3 storm.
The El Nino weather pattern is expected to reduce the number and intensity of storms in the Atlantic.
The season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30.
