Long Islanders may be enjoying the warmer than usual winter, but the lack of snow is costing some businesses financially.
“We’ve been overstocked with everything,” says Matt Nachamkin, manager at Schaefer’s Ace Hardware. “We’ve been ready to go, and it hasn’t snowed on us.”
Winter clothing has also been staying on the racks at Sundown Ski and Surf in Levittown.
“Snowshoes, heavy warm coats, there’s no desire for those right now,” says owner Winfried Breuer.
He says people are still buying skis and snowboards as resorts make their own snow.
