News 12 Long Island Sports Director Kevin Maher has added to his laundry list of awards -- this time as a nominee for New York Sportscaster of the Year by
the National Sports Media Association.Maher is among four finalists for the award, alongside SNY Mets broadcaster Gary Cohen, WNBC's Bruce Beck and WCBS' Otis Livingston.
Among past winners include Beck, Ian Eagle, Mike Breen, Marv Albert, Suzyn Waldman and many more since it was first awarded in 1959. News 12 legend Bob Wolff took home the award six times in his prestigious career.
Maher, a five-time Emmy winner, has won more than 40 awards for sports reporting from organizations including the NYC Press Club, the LI Press Club, the NYS Associated Press and the NYS Broadcasters Association. In 2016, New York Associated Press named him the best TV reporter in the state.
He can be seen all over News 12 -- covering a wide array of sports from Yankees and Mets to his area high school action and even his annual Paper Football Super Bowl challenge against local students.
Voting for the national and local awards opens next month and continues through the end of the year.
