Buses have stopped running on 11 NICE bus routes in Nassau.
The changes took effect Sunday. Nearly 2 percent of NICE bus riders will be affected by the cuts.
As News 12 has reported, it's part of an effort by the bus system to close a $7.5 million budget hole.
Officials say the eliminated routes could be reinstalled if Nassau County can secure more funding for the program.
The bus system is owned by the county, but operated by a private company.
In addition to the service cuts, NICE customers were also hit with a 25-cent price hike earlier this month.
