The world’s largest costumer business, Rubie’s Costume Company, is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The costume business, based on Long Island, is a hit during the Halloween season.

Rubie’s cut 75% of its workforce at the start of the pandemic.

The company says it then shifted its manufacturing facilities to make hand sanitizer and PPE.

A court hearing is expected today - over the phone.

Newsday says Rubie's is hoping to secure new credit, but a sale is possible.
