The latest plan to redevelop the area around the Ronkonkoma train station, also known as the Ronkonkoma hub, has moved one step closer to becoming a reality.
According to Newsday, the Long Island Regional Planning Council voted to give the project the important designation "regional significance."
The plan calls for nearly 1,500 apartments, as well as stores, offices and medical facilities.
Some residents in the area worry the apartments will be too expensive.
