Thanks, Nadia. Ok. Look outside that page 57. The birds are flying really fast with that upper level wind. We're going to make our way to gusts up to 40 MPH as we close off the evening tonight. Some gusts 45 maybe as high as 5560 MPH out there in Suffolk County. And yes, we do have the thunderstorm icon because we have rumbles of thunder happening with some of this rain as well. Look at 4 p.m. Temperatures are actually climbing as the sun. It's ready to set to about 60. The wind is starting to pick up and it's kind of just steady around 30 MPH. This wind gusting at times up to 40 for the evening. There'll be a little bit of a break. I would say around 6 to 8 o'clock or so where there is some rain, but the really pouring kind of wet kind of weather that pushes over us. I'd say 89 o'clock tonight, all the way through your overnight temperatures will cr behind this. Look at this front, this is the gust front that we're watching really intense wind by three o'clock or so, it's past Nassau County. So it's before three o'clock for Nassau in Western Suffolk. And then the temperature just plummets from sixties to forties almost instantly while you're sleeping tonight. So, let's show you the hour by hour. We have a south wind coming in all the way through. 10 o'clock. Hempstead gets hit by that front at about 20 mile per hour. Winds gusts up to 40 then the wind shifts to the north and it's gonna be breezy all day on Monday. Riverhead. Look at how much longer you are in those sustained winds of 30 MPH coming in from the southwest until 3 a.m. Then wind turns to the north that front passes through. Here's what the wind gust looks like at 10 p.m. About 40 MPH. We do have that red indicating 50 mile per hour winds around midnight and then it pushes out. Now, the worst of it is gonna be east of Islip in Nassau County. Your risk for wind is lower but you do still have that flood risk as well. So at the very least we have to watch out for some widespread flooding on local roads. The usual trouble spots for a morning commute will have most of its rain kind of taper off, but it'll still have a few showers along the way. The wind will knock off the rain by mid-morning, but it's gonna stay breezy all day Monday, the rest of the work week is dry.

News 12 celebrates Patchogue elementary school teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week

This Teacher Appreciation Week. We're visiting a different school district every day today. We're in the Patch Hog Medford school district where they're honoring a special education teacher who is 12 Jens has more from River Elementary School. We are honoring Miss Barrio here at River Elementary. You have Kate to your daughter. I mean, this is a special celebration. The fact that the district nominated you um during Teacher Appreciation Week. How does that make you feel? Oh, it's definitely an honor. I feel grateful. It's a humbling experience and I wouldn't be able to do it without the support of my team and my colleagues and everyone here that came to support me. So, and you mentioned before off camera that you were kind of caught off guard this, this is a passion for, for you. This is something you do every day. It's hard work for sure. Um But now to be recognized for your work means everything. Uh 100% everything. You know, it's, it's, it's, it's hard to be recognized for something that you absolutely love to do every day and there's a passion for it. So it's, I love to be, you know, I love to do what I do and I'm grateful for it. You helped the district about six or a few years ago, uh, launch this program. You work with non verbal students. It takes a lot to do what you do. Oh, yes, it definitely does. You know, everyone has all my students have different personalities, different quirks and everything. So it's nice to get to know them and just see what they, and see how they progress over the years and to see everyone come out, Mr Hoffman, we have some of the parents as well. Current students, past students. Um you guys came out extra early just to honor Miss, I mean, she means a lot to you and your Children. Uh Yeah, my daughter, um everybody probably knows her here. She has her definite quirks. She's made leaps and bounds this year. She's definitely surpassed a lot of the goals that we expect of her. Um She's non verbal. Um And when I come here to visit like for parent training, um I go in and I always peek in a room and see just what she's doing because Miss Frick always says that she's doing so much and I'm like, I just don't even believe it. And I look in and she's on her ipad doing her work sitting in her chair, which at home, if you've seen it, that's not what happens. It really makes a big impact, which is great. And I think teachers across Long Island do that as well. We're gonna be going to different districts and, uh, honoring teachers out there as well. We're in patch, like news about Long Island.
