A very special pup is now patrol-certified after his graduation from the Suffolk Police Academy.
Officer Brian Lawrence's dog, Rafeh, was named in honor of 5th Precinct officer Fadi Rafeh - who died unexpectedly in 2019 at age 38.
Lawrence says naming his K-9 Rafeh is keeping his friend's legacy alive.
"I just wanted to honor his life and make sure he's never forgotten - he meant so much to me as a person and so much to me as a friend," Lawrence says.
Rafeh the dog completed 16 weeks of training in criminal apprehension, evidence recovery and obedience and tracking.
