Riptides 11561, a restaurant on the boardwalk in Long Beach, relies on sunshine to bring in business.
The constant weekend rains have been “catastrophic,” owner Brian Braddish said.
The recent heat wave did not help.
Braddish said, “The forecast itself is what you live by,” because people won’t make the trip if they expect the weather to be bad.
Like Riptides, the Lazy Lobster in East Rockaway, an outdoor restaurant, relies on good weather.
Owner Marco Lionetti told News 12 that so far, this year has been “devastating.”
He said last year they had a “banner year,” but this year has been the opposite.
“Please come out and support local businesses," he said.
