Eleven Bronx hospitals may soon be hit with a new smoking ban Thursday that prohibits smoking within 15 feet of the entrance or exit door.
The New York City Council approved the ban that would affect all New York City hospitals. The state law that forbids smoking inside a hospital came into effect in 1988.
Johnson Tong, a smoker, supports the ban because he says it may discourage children from smoking.
Arkansas, Colorado, and Hawaii have already adopted similar smoking bans.
