The Village of Rockville Centre is installing parking meters that accept cards and give customers something in return.
The village will add 10 new parking meters that will accept debit and credit cards and will also print coupons for local businesses.
MasterCard and Parkeon, the village's current parking meter company, selected Rockville Centre to be the first community in the country to launch the new program, dubbed "Park and Save."
Visitors don't have to pay the parking meter to get the local deals. They can simply select the coupon they want and print it.
The meters will be installed along Park Avenue next week.
The village says it's still working on a plan to deal with a lack of parking spots.
