Former Nassau Executive Ed Mangano and his wife Linda pleaded not guilty Wednesday after being arraigned on a superseding indictment, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
The judge said a retrial for the federal corruption case will begin on Oct. 11. The judge previously slated the retrial for Oct. 9.
The defense said that it was filing a motion for a change of venue for the retrial. It was not immediately clear where they wanted to take the case.
Ed Mangano is accused of taking bribes and kickbacks from restaurateur Harendra Singh in exchange for political favors. His wife allegedly lied to the FBI about her no-show job that paid her hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Their first trial ended in a hung jury.
