Dozens of lawsuits were filed Wednesday as the Child Victims Act went into effect.
Anyone claiming to be sexually abused as a child now has a year to file a civil lawsuit against the alleged abuser and/or the abuser's organization.
Under the new law one-year window, a suit can be filed regardless of how long ago the alleged abuse took place.
The Catholic Church, the Boy Scouts, public schools and hospitals are all expected to face lawsuits.
