Nassau police are asking for the public to help find a 13-year-old New Cassel boy who went missing Monday.
Tiffany Allen says she last saw her son, Amari Young, around 6 a.m. Monday leaving the family's Prospect Avenue apartment.
Police say the eighth-grader at Westbury Middle School did not attend classes that day.
Patrol officers spent five days searching Westbury and New Cassel but found no sign of the teen, which officials say is concerning.
"Most 13-year-old young men don't pack a bag and leave and go missing for four or five days," says Nassau Chief of Detectives Kevin Smith.
Smith says investigators have no reason to believe the teen was into drugs, hung out with a bad crowd or led a troubled life before the disappearance.
Allen says her son may be in Queens, where his father and grandmother live.
Anyone with information on the teen's whereabouts is asked to call Nassau's Missing Persons Squad at 516-573-7347.
