Mayor Joe Ganim gave News 12 an exclusive tour Wednesday of Bridgeport's new Bassick High School.

"From its state-of-the-art features - including a massive auditorium, library and science center - the new Bassick High School is going to be the crown jewel of our 21st-century educational centers, which include the new Harding High School and other schools in progress," Ganim told News 12.
The new school shares a campus with the University of Bridgeport and overlooks Seaside Park on the city's historic South End.
"When kids show up here on the first day of school - Aug. 28 - they'll have an educational facility on par with the best in the country and that's something we've been fighting to get built here for at least 20 years," Ganim said.
