A new child support center is set to open this fall at a Northwell Hospital in New Hyde Park.

New York Islanders Star Matthew Schaeffer has announced that the Islanders Children's Foundation will donate $150,000 to build it.

The facility will be at the R.J. Zuckerberg Cancer Hospital in New Hyde Park.

It will be named after Schaeffer's late mother, Jennifer, who died two years ago from breast cancer.

The center will also be a place for children to wait while a parent undergoes cancer treatment.

The support center is expected to open in October.
