A new group of community leaders will be a voice for the Asian American and Pacific Islander community in New York state.
Six leaders who continuously impact change in the communities they serve will go on to influence future policies.
Gov. Kathy Hochul appointed the following leaders on Tuesday:
Andrew Sta. Ana, deputy director of Research & Policy, Asian American Federation
Gaurav Vasisht, executive director and CEO, New York State Insurance Fund
Kyung Yoon, president, Korean American Community Foundation
Peter Tu, executive director, Flushing Chinese Business Association
Tai Shaw, chair, Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association Syracuse Chapter
Tim Law, founder, Chinese American Social Services Center
In addition to spearheading policies, the group will coordinate programs to bolster the welfare of New York’s AAPI community.
The Gov. Mario Cuomo Bridge and other state landmarks were illuminated in pink and light blue to celebrate the announcement.
