Day four of the new airline terror alert finds area travelers bogged down in security checks and airlines struggling to keep flights on time. British Airways says it has canceled 30 percent of its scheduled flights, including two flights from Kennedy Airport. At MacArthur Airport in Islip, people were checking baggage at Southwest. Most travelers said they were aware of the new carry-on restrictions and packed accordingly. The list of prohibited items has changed slightly. At MacArthur, passengers are allowed to bring laptops and iPods onto the plane. However in Britain, carry-on luggage is still prohibited. Travelers can also check with their airlines to find out what is permitted as a carry-on.
