Long Island's first baby of the new year is a girl!
As New Yorkers counted down the seconds to 2021, Brian and Nicole Tahlor, of Nesconset, were at Stony Brook Hospital counting down to a special delivery.
"We were watching the ball drop, all the doctors and nurses, we were counting down to happy new year." says Brian Tahlor. "A few seconds later, one more push and here she came."
Briella Nicole Tahlor came into the world at 12:01 a.m., weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce.
The Tahlors were expecting Briella to arrive on New Year's Eve because Nicole was induced early that morning.
Brian, who is an accountant, says he was hoping his baby girl would be born in 2020 for tax credit purposes.
"It all worked out for the better," says Brian Tahlor. "She's in 2021. Can't complain about that."
The family says a new baby is a wonderful way to start of the new year.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, extended family members are meeting baby Briella via Facetime.
