A gas leak in East Islip Monday morning prompted the evacuation of a nearby senior citizen center.
National Grid says a crew using a post hole digger punctured a gas line on Irish Lane around 10:30 a.m.
The Brookwood Hall Learning Center was briefly evacuated and the gas was shut off.
National Grid says anyone doing digging on their property can contact the utility to mark their gas lines for free.
