Nassau residents can now access their property tax assessments online.
The county Assessment Department notified residents it will soon stop mailing the information. Not everyone is happy with the change.
The Hempstead town receiver of taxes says the move is "misguided" and believes the county is doing it to frustrate homeowners who wish to challenge their property taxes.
A statement from a spokesman for the county executive reads in part, "There is no effort to stop any resident from grieving their taxes. Any suggestion otherwise is simply incorrect. The Tax Receiver is more interested in theatre than facts."
