Police say a Macy's employee was assaulted by a man who was trying to steal sunglasses at the department store in Manhasset.

Detectives say a theft prevention officer recognized William Paek from a previous larceny when he walked into the store on Saturday.

Police said the worker watched Paek put a pair of sunglasses in his pocket and tried to stop him. They say the worker hurt his leg during the altercation.

Paek was arrested and charged with assault.
