Nassau police say a driver running an illegal cab service exposed himself to a 6-year-old girl as he was driving her home in December.
Neri Garcia Ramos, a 37-year-old father of two, picked up the girl back in December when he got a call to get her in Freeport and bring her home to Roosevelt.
The child's mother says she had used Garcia Ramos as a driver before. But this time, she says her child came home crying and told her Garcia Ramos had exposed himself. In her statement to police, the mother says "he pulled over and asked [the girl] if she wanted to see a present."
Garcia Ramos has no prior criminal history. He says the situation arose differently, and claims the girl told him to show her his privates or she would tell her mother that he had touched her. He claims that out of fear, he momentarily pulled his pants down. Garcia Ramos says he did not touch the girl and that he is sorry.
He faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child and is being held on $25,000 bond. He is expected to be back in court next week.
Other possible victims are asked to contact Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
