An Elmont man was arrested Saturday for assaulting two Nassau County police officers who were called to provide him with medical assistance, authorities say.
The incident began after the officers arrived at an Elmont apartment building and attempted to escort Hurguens Jasmin, 28, from his bedroom.
Police say he punched one of the officers in the face and began to resist arrest when they tried to place him in custody.
A dagger was also seen inside the apartment, according to authorities.
The other officer sustained lacerations to his left hand and right elbow during the struggle.
Jasmin was ultimately arrested. The charges against him include two counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon and resisting arrest.
