Nassau
County homeowners now have an extension to challenge their tax assessments.
On
Monday, the county legislature approved the new April 30 deadline.
The
extension means taxpayers have until then to meet with the county's Assessment
Review Commission to discuss any concerns about 2023-2024 assessed values of
their homes.
According to Republicans, the
extension was necessary because of a January delay in mailing out the
letters. They also said there were over 150,00 errors found in assessment
letters that were sent out.
