Nassau County Executive and gubernatorial hopeful Tom Suozzi came out swinging in his debate with state Attorney General Eliot Spitzer Tuesday, but many political analysts say he failed to score a knockout victory.
Most experts say both candidates in the Democratic primary for governor stuck to their game plan. They say Spitzer looked and acted gubernatorial, while Suozzi was aggressive and attacked the heavy favorite. Long Island political strategist Michael Dawidziak says like any huge underdog, Suozzi needed a lopsided victory to gain ground. He says both candidates came across well, which will result in little change in voter opinion.
Even Suozzi supporters say it will take more than just one debate for him to have a chance in the September primary. So far, no other debates are scheduled.
