Nassau County has opened a temporary warming space as temperatures are expected to drop.
The former Nassau County Family Court Building at 1200 Old Country Road in Westbury will serve as a temporary spot for people to stay warm.
The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning lasting from 1 a.m. until 9 a.m.
"Nassau County is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents during extreme weather conditions. As temperatures drop overnight, I encourage anyone in need to take advantage of our temporary warming space,” County Executive Blakeman stated.
Residents are encouraged to call the Nassau County Winter Homeless Hotline at 1-866-WARMBED (866-927-6233) if they see someone who may need overnight shelter.
