A Nassau County police officer is being sued by a woman he arrested for drunken driving.

Jenny Hannigan, 25, says the officer sexually assaulted her during the arrest that occurred in Island Park a couple of years ago. The officer has been identified as Gary Zima, of the 4th Precinct.

Hannigan's attorney says after being pulled over, the officer sexually assaulted her in the back of the patrol car while handcuffed. The claim states a female officer was in the front seat driving during the incident.

Hannigan claims Zima sent her text messages following the incident asking her how she is doing. Hannigan then filed a complaint with police.

According to officials, an internal affairs investigation found the assault allegation undetermined, but ruled text messages as against department policies. Zima was reprimanded.

Hannigan's attorney is suing police and Nassau County, allegedly claiming a coverup.
