Family and friends gathered Monday at Eisenhower Park to remember the victims of Sept. 11.
The names of all 344 Nassau County residents killed in the terror attacks were read aloud at the sunset ceremony. Mourners like Rosemary Cain, who lost her firefighter son, say the anniversary should serve as a reminder to survivors to embrace life.
"For anybody who has any kind of recollection of Sept. 11, embrace it and keep it in your hearts and honor the people that were murdered that day and live life to the fullest because they can't," she says.
Margie Miller lost her husband Joel when the towers fell. She said she is reminded of her loss every day, not just once a year.
"It's part of our lives every single day," she says.
