This weekend, the streets of Sag Harbor are alive with music — and the entire village has become the stage.
The 15th annual Sag Harbor American Music Festival is officially underway, bringing with it a celebration of sound, culture and community.
With 38 acts over four days, the event features everything from jazz and blues to funk, folk, samba and soul — much of it completely free and open to the public.
From pizza shops to burger joints — even a hardware store — music is pouring out of every corner of this charming waterfront village.
The festival’s founders, Kelly Connaughton Dodds and Kerry Farrell, say it wouldn’t be possible without the deep support of local businesses and residents.
“It wouldn’t have made it if the local businesses and the people didn’t embrace it,” said Connaughton Dodds. “Because we’re a not-for-profit.”
“Being part of Sag Harbor for 15 years and the support the community has given has been amazing,” Farrell added.
With performances both large and small, the festival showcases both local talent and nationally recognized artists. And thanks to generous sponsors and volunteers, the spirit of the festival remains inclusive and accessible to all.
Among this year’s highlights: Cécile McLorin Salvant, a Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist, headlines Friday night at Bay Street Theater. Sunday’s final acts include East End favorite Nancy Atlas, who will close out the weekend with a sunset set at Marine Park.
The rest of the lineup is just as impressive, with standout performances by:
- Gene Casey & the Lone Sharks
- Mambo Loco
- Hoodoo Loungers
- Rebecca McCartney Trio
- Leon & The Peoples
- New Moon Acoustic Blues
