MulchFest is back again this year to provide residents with places to recycle their Christmas trees.
This year marks the 19th annual citywide MulchFest, sponsored by the city's Parks Department.
Dozens of volunteers, many of them local high schoolers, braved cold temperatures to assist with the event.
The trees brought to the 85 locations around the city are ground into mulch, which is then used in city gardens and parks.
Organizers ask that recyclers strip their trees fully of garland and ornaments, which cannot be run through the wood chipper.
MulchFest concludes Sunday at 2 p.m., but residents can leave trees for curbside pickup through Jan. 16.
