There is still no deal in place between LIRR workers and the MTA. However, a deal has been made with thousands of city bus and subway workers.
The five-year deal includes 2 percent raises and some improved benefits. In exchange, workers will pay more for their health insurance premiums.
The deal still has to be approved by the MTA board.
State Sen. Carl Marcellino is calling on Gov. Cuomo to reach a similar deal with the LIRR.
Without a deal, Sen. Marcellino says there could be fare and tax hikes along with a strike.
