The MTA has rejected one of the anti-Islamic ads slated to go on display later this month, but other versions will still be used.
The ad that will not be displayed says "Killing Jews is worship that draws us close to Allah." The MTA says it is concerned it could be interpreted as urging direct and violent attacks on Jews.
The ads, paid for by the American Freedom Defense Initiative, include images of Hitler and James Foley, one of the American journalists beheaded by ISIS. They also feature a disclaimer that says the viewpoints are not endorsed by the MTA. A federal court ruling requires the MTA to run ads with different viewpoints.
The ads will be displayed on 100 city buses and two subway entrances.
