Tragedy on the tracks of the Long Island Rail Road this morning impacted thousands of Long Island commuters.
The MTA tells News 12 a man and a woman were walking on the tracks near the Hollis station when they were hit and killed around 12:45 a.m.
The duo were hit by a Manhattan bound train from Ronkonkoma.
The incident caused major delays for riders on several LIRR branches.
As of 8:45 a.m., all trains were once again on schedule.
