The mother of a Sachem high school football player who died during a practice drill has won a seven-figure settlement.
Joshua Mileto died in 2017 after a 400-pound log fell on his head during a preseason football training drill.
The 16-year-old's family sued the Sachem School District and the Sachem East Touchdown Club, alleging negligence and wrongful death.
The family says the money will go toward scholarships and advocacy for safety policies in youth sports.
