We are in the thick of today's worst weather on Long Island. Heavy rain and thunderstorms with wind gusts mostly between 30 and 50 mph continue to move from west to east. Travelling during heavy rain is not advised. Please use extreme caution as there will be scattered instances of flooding.
Strong wind continues to bring down tree branches and is leading to thousands of reported power outages.
The rain tapers off this evening, but the wind will still be a problem on Halloween tomorrow. In fact, there is now a wind advisory for Nassau and Suffolk Counties tomorrow from around noon through midnight for wind gusts picking back up into the 30 to 45 mph range.
Please be safe this evening and continue to watch News 12's frequent live Storm Watch updates on-air and reach out to Matt Hammer or News 12 LI on social media with any storm photos or reports.
