Rain showers continue to taper off overnight following more than two inches of rain in spots on Thursday evening. Please use caution traveling as there can still be lingering flooding around Long Island as well as lingering debris on roads from Thursday's wind, too. Here are some of the peak wind gusts from Thursday below.
The wind overnight will gust to around 30 mph, but a wind advisory is in effect for Nassau and Suffolk Counties Halloween Friday from noon through midnight for wind gusts picking back up into the 30 to 50 mph range. This can lead to additional power problems and potentially dangerous conditions from scattered wind damage while you are trick-or-treating Friday evening. Please stay alert.
OVERNIGHT: Rain tapers off. Clouds gradually clear. Breezy. Watch out for scattered storm-related debris on roads. Lows around the upper 40s will feel a bit chillier with the wind. Wind: Southeast-southwest 15 to 35 mph.
HALLOWEEN: WIND ALERT — Drying out with only a small chance for an isolated rain shower. While there may be some breaks of sun to start, expect a mainly cloudy and windy day. Gusts will be around 30 and 50 mph again by around noon. This can be problematic for trick-or-treating. Some tree branches may continue to fall and power outages can continue. Please stay alert. Highs around 58 degrees. Sunset: 5:49 p.m. Lows near 41 degrees.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny to partly cloudy. Windy. Highs around 58 degrees. Lows near 41 degrees.
SUNDAY: DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS — Clocks go back one hour at 2 a.m. — Sunrise: 6:24 a.m. Sun and some passing clouds. Highs around 58 degrees. Lows near 43 degrees. Sunset: 4:47 p.m.
MONDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 62 degrees. Lows near 47 degrees.
TUESDAY: ELECTION DAY — Sun and clouds. Highs around 61 degrees. Lows near 43 degrees.
