The Molloy College softball team signed its newest star recruit.

Five-year-old Penelope DiChiara, of Massapequa, is a member of the club. Penelope was born with Emanuel Syndrome, a chromosomal disorder that disrupts normal development and affects many parts of the body.

Molloy joined with "Team IMPACT" to bring Penelope aboard. The club, and Penelope's family, couldn't be happier.

“To be able to join a college sports team, the Molloy softball team, it’s something she has that's unique to her, and something she can enjoy with her teammates,” said father Anthony DiChiara.

Penelope and her family plan to be cheering on the team throughout the season.
