In a season full of challenges, the New York Mets will face their toughest yet Wednesday night during the National League Wild Card game at Citi Field.
The Amazins will be taking on the San Francisco Giants for the right to play against the Chicago Cubs in the first round of the playoffs.
Madison Bumgarner will be on the hill for the Giants. He has a career 5-0 record vs. the Mets, as well as plenty of postseason success.
The Mets will start their ace Noah Syndergaard, who was third in the majors with a 2.60 earned run average and a 14-9 record.
"You have to have confidence," says Mets manager Terry Collins. "You have to believe in yourself. Noah Syndergaard believes in Noah Syndergaard."
Syndergaard called the upcoming outing a "dream come true."
"It's going to be really exciting. I'm looking forward to getting out there and feeling the energy from the hometown crowd," says Syndergaard.
The postseason appearance for the Mets was hard-earned after the team lost Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz and David Wright for the season.
The Wild Card game begins Wednesday at 8:09 p.m.
