Members of the 106th Rescue Wing in West Hampton are heading upstate New York Thursday to help thousands of flood victims. A HH-60 helicopter from the rescue wing is bound for the small town of Dolgeville, located about 30 miles from Utica. Governor Pataki (R-NY) called in the National Guard and declared a State of Emergency when much of the town was swept away by floodwaters Wednesday. Thousands of people displaced by flooding remain in shelters and roads remain closed as high floodwaters linger. The 106th Rescue Wing is the same unit that flew rescue missions during Hurricane Katrina.
