A major fire broke out at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Copiague Wednesday afternoon.

Photos show firefighters at the scene of the church, located on Molloy Street. Tall flames and thick black smoke billowed from the roof of the building.

According to police, multiple departments responded to the scene. They say the fire began in the auditorium.

There were no reports of injuries.

Officials say the fire did not appear to be criminal, but is being investigated by arson detectives.
