A Massapequa woman got her community together to make sure the family of an NYPD detective, who died from COVID-19, was given everything they wished for this holiday season.
Members of the Massapequa Fire Department surprised Catherine Abear, of Queens, with gifts for her and her children for the holidays. Chrysta Cataldo is a volunteer firefighter and is part of a Facebook group who get gifts for people for the holiday season.
She says as a cancer survivor, she wanted to help someone else who has been through a difficult time.
Abear declined to speak on camera, but she went to Glen Road with her sister who will help her bring the gifts back to Queens and give the children a happy holiday.
