Martin Tankleff started a new chapter of his life Monday as he attended his first classes as a college student.
Tankleff is registered for two classes at Hofstra University, one of them being a philosophy course. His attorneys say he is going to school to get a degree in law.
Tankleff already has an associate?s degree, which he earned while in prison. He was freed after serving nearly 18 years for the murder of his parents.
Tankleff?s next court appearance will be Feb. 15, when the state attorney general?s office will determine whether he will be retried or if charges against him will be dropped completely.
Registering for only two classes makes Tankleff a part-time student. His spare time will be spent working on the case.
