The family of a U.S. Marine from Sag Harbor says their loved one disappeared Monday at Camp Pendleton in California.
Officials believe 20-year-old Lance Cpl. Margaret Elizabeth McMahon may have been kidnapped. According to her family, officials are investigating if she was abducted by her newlywed husband Kevyn Reid, who is also in the Marines. Reid is stationed at a camp near Pendleton and has also gone missing. McMahon?s family says she called a friend after getting into some sort of argument with Reid Sunday night. Family members say when the friend tried to call her back, she never answered the phone.
According to her family, McMahon was supposed to go to Iraq soon and Reid was jealous and convinced she was going there to spend time with other men.
Members of McMahon?s family are making calls, searching the Internet and looking into her bank account hoping something will give them a clue. They say her bank card has recently been used in Missouri. They've also left messages on Reid's MySpace page, which they say he's recently signed onto.
